Much of my job involves spending time with Brides on their wedding day. The morning of your wedding will be filled with a range of emotions. There will be moments of disbelief as you wonder how your wedding day has finally arrived, moments of excitement as you prepare to see your Groom at the end of the aisle, and moments of the nerves kicking in. It is absolutely possible to maintain your peace throughout your wedding day. Here’s how…
Start well
How you begin your day well will vary from person to person, but if you know you are calmer in quieter environments, opt for starting the day with a small number of people around, with a slower pace, sipping your favourite coffee. If you thrive in groups, start the day alongside your Bride-squad, put the wedding morning playlist on and sip those mimosas!
Pause before the aisle
One of my favourite parts of my job is being with the Bride just before she walks down the aisle. There is always a moment just before she walks that I ask her to pause and breathe, giving her a second to take it all in. Those few seconds are short but vital in helping her to pause and feel present in the moment. Then, when the door opens and she meets eyes with her Groom, the nerves turn to excitement to see her soon-to-be-husband.
Spend time just the two of you
99% of the wedding day will involve other people. By planning in time to be by yourselves, or even escaping away from the crowds on the day, you can be constantly reminded that you have just married your best friend. Keeping this at the focus will help you deal with Auntie Margaret’s 3489739 photos and other potential moments of overwhelm.
Book a Wedding Day Coordinator
While I may be biased here, I firmly believe that having an excellent Wedding Day Coordinator will remove any stresses you may have and allow you to be present in each moment. Generous friends and family may be able to take certain aspects of the day off your plate, but there is something freeing about hiring a professional to handle the details of your day.
